Description

The Reverso SoundMat is an 18mm soundproofing mat with a mass of 17.50kg per m2 (12.60kg per mat) and is the only high performing soundproofing mat for both impact and airborne noise. Suitable for both hard and soft floor finishes to be applied directly, without the need of a stabilising layer for hard finish flooring and acting as a luxury carpet underlay for carpet finishes.

Providing a high level of soundproofing for both impact and airborne noise. The innovative 3 layer design of the Reverso SoundMat helps to tackle the unwanted noise of everyday living, or in meeting Part ‘E’ Building Regulations.

Ideal for loud levels of airborne and high levels of impact noise, such as clear conversation, TV noise and heavy footsteps.

The Reverso SoundMat is suitable for all final floor finishes and can also be used under underfloor heating.

Features

Reverso SoundMat is the industry’s highest-performing and only soundproofing mat suitable for both hard and soft floor finishes. Featuring 3 layers of soundproofing technology – to block impact and airborne noise:

Only 18mm thick:

  1. 3mm Mass loaded vinyl (designed to replace lead in soundproofing)
  2. 9mm Closed cell foam (for impact noise such as footsteps)
  3. 6mm Hard board (further airborne blocking capabilities)

Further features

  • The closed cell foam used in the Reverso SoundMat will not absorb water, like chip foam, so can be reused after any water damage
  • Reverso SoundMat is also reusable and can be taken up and relayed, as it doesn’t require adhesive
  • Soft side up – cushions footfall without wear and tear – unlike other sound mats
  • Performs better for longer – 20 year guarantee
  • Higher performing impact reduction than other floor soundproofing mats

Reverso SoundMat is the ideal floor soundproofing solution for:

  • Loud levels of impact and airborne noise from above, such as clear conversation, TV noise and heavy footsteps
  • Reducing unwanted airborne noise from below travelling up to the room above
  • Exceeding Part E Building Regulations

Reverso SoundMat is independently tested on a standard timber floor construction and achieves a 54dB total airborne sound reduction. In human terms 54dB will block clear conversation, clear TV/ Music through a standard timber floor effectively.

Airborne and Impact performance examples (Timber floor build up):

Soft Side Up:
With resilient bars and two layers of acoustic plasterboard on the ceiling below and 100mm 60kg acoustic mineral wool between the joists
Airborne Noise: 54dB Impact Noise: 42dB
(Borderline pass for part E Building Regulations)
Hard Side Up:
With resilient bars and two layers of acoustic plasterboard on the ceiling below and 100mm 60kg Rockwool between joists
Airborne Noise: 54dB Impact Noise: 51dB
(Exceeds Part E Building Regulations)
  • N.B. dB performance figures may vary due to several factors, read more.

Suitable for all final floor finishes

For carpet as a final finish: Reverso SoundMat will act as a luxury carpet underlay when used mat side up. You will also need to use our 9mm gripper rod risers underneath the carpet gripper rods to soundproof the perimeter of the room and raise the gripper rods to the correct height for the carpet. You should nail through the carpet gripper rods and through the gripper strips (risers) to secure them in place with a 30mm flat head tack nail.

For Engineered floor, LVT or laminate finishes:
Use the Reverso Soundmat Hard side up and apply your floor finish directly over the mat.

For Tiles
For tiles the hard layer should be primed first before fitting. An additional stabilizing boards may be needed for some types of thicker, heavier tiles.

The Reverso SoundMat is simply applied directly any level/flat floor surface.

  • Simple direct to floor installation (no adhesive needed)
  • Simply flip the Reverso SoundMat depending on the final floor finish. Mat side up for soft finishes, hard side up for all hard final floor finishes
  • Joined with a high tack tape to prevent movement
  • Sealed around the perimeter to seal any small gaps where sound may escape
  • Suitable for all floor finishes and can be used under underfloor heating
  • Can be installed by one person (a two man team can fit up to 30m2 per day)
  • Easy to cut with a fine tooth saw
  • Can be fitted by a good DIY’er or any tradesman

To prevent any possible flanking noise, we would recommend installing a Deck perimeter strip between the wall and all layers.
